One of our favourite Australian Rieslings, made by James Kellie at Harewood Estate in Australia's southwest wine regions of Denmark, Mount Barker and Albany, is featured as Top Bargain in James Halliday's Wines of the Week.
It is not surprising that winemaker James Kellie’s own vineyard project should be successful given the reputation he earned whilst at Howard Park in Margaret River. What is perhaps surprising is how quickly James’ Harewood Estate has made an impact on the Australian Show Scene, with an elusive top rated 5 stars in James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion, two wines listed in Best of the Best (Sauvignon Semillon and Riesling), and a host of medals.Established just over five years ago James has used his experience as winemaker at Howard Park to source grapes from some of the best vineyards throughout the Great Southern region, including Frankland, Denmark and Mount Barker. Wines are bottled under James’ skilful eyes at the Harewood property. These are stunning wines.

“Ripe pristine citrus aromas combine with a touch of green apple and slatey minerality; the palate is generous, almost juicy on entry, with the acidity and slate tightening up the finish and providing a fresh, focused and surprisingly long conclusion. Screwcap, 12.5% alc.”
